The Afghan Steering Committee Seeks Tutors for Afghan Children

A volunteer opportunity

Children arriving in the US speaking no English have the advantage of attending public school. But usually there are minimal additional English classes and they struggle to understand instruction and keep up with their homework. A personal tutor would help accelerate their English proficiency and in turn help with their other classes.

If you would be interested in tutoring students who live in an apartment complex in Maryland (Calvert Hall) just 15 minutes from Capitol Hill, please contact Lucy Brown or Barbara Beyna for more information; they can provide details and arrange a meeting with the family, to begin now or in the new year.
