“Tending our Soil” as We Regather

An opportunity to volunteer for a vital new effort at St. Mark's

As we continue to regather in person, our parish will embark on a new adventure, Tending Our Soil, a program designed to help Episcopal communities discern their calling. The St. Mark’s Vestry approved the application for this Episcopal Diocese of Washington (EDOW) initiative, which was made possible by a grant from the Lilly Foundation. This three-year experience will allow us to share with other Episcopal churches while receiving consistent professional guidance.

As a community that explicitly welcomes all, without an expectation that our spiritual journeys mirror one another, we believe we are strengthened by intertwining our beliefs. This program will bring opportunities for us to engage and envision who we are, where we are headed, and what God is calling us to do.

To learn more, visit the EDOW website or download the timeline for the program.

A parish team is needed to lead us in this effort. Serving on this leadership team will be a substantial time commitment (3 years) but will offer a unique opportunity to help guide a vital effort for our parish.

The organizing committee requests letters of intent be submitted by May 31; please send them to Senior Warden Linell Grundman. UPDATE: Work began in June 2022, based on letters of intent that were solicited and received by May 31, 2022.

If you have questions, please contact Rev. Christopher Phillips; Rev. Patricia Catalano; or vestry members Katherine Buchanan or Jan Lipscomb.
