Film Club: “I Was a Male War Bride” – AFI Silver Theatre, Sunday, Sept.11, 6:20 pm

Following the Parish Fair, join the Film Club for the Howard Hawks screwball comedy, “I Was a Male War Bride” (1949).

Based on a true story, it stars Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan as a French officer and a WAC lieutenant who meet and want to marry but are up against an unimaginative bureaucracy that never envisioned that American women soldiers might fall in love with men from other countries, and need to apply for spousal visas.

For audience safety, proof of vaccination is still required to enter the theater, while masks are now optional but encouraged. The theater still currently only accepts credit cards rather than cash. Seating is assigned, so if you want to sit together, please join us in front of the box office between 6:00 and 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 11 to buy tickets.

RSVP to Alicia Ruble, or call 202-420-9256.
