Incarceration Justice Ministry meeting

Tues 2/23 | 6:30-8 pm online

We will meet via Zoom, on Tuesday, April 27, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Jody Kent will join us to share about the Campaign for Fair Sentences of Youth. Their work focuses on banning extreme sentences for children. Interested newcomers may join us by sending an email to Suzanne Wells. Suzanne will share the Zoom link. For additional questions, please contact Jan Lipscomb.

ICYMI: At our last meeting, we discussed the book The Fire Next Time, by James Baldwin. You can listen to the book, if you like, at this YouTube link; the video is about 2.5 hours.

Note: Our group has continued to meet regularly, using remote platforms, and continues to work on behalf of individuals who are at risk of being caught in the justice system. Restorative justice is a strategy that is currently used for some juvenile offenders rather than going to court. It involves facilitated dialog between victims and offenders and individually designed engagement in volunteer work, therapy, and routine check-ins to bring about reconciliation.
